Should I use a celebrity in my advertising?”
Good question Brendon, thanks for asking.
The answer to this is a pretty clear “Probably”.
Sure, it depends on your message and your market and a variety of other factors.
But remember this, marketing is about creating awareness as a first step.
You only create awareness if people know about you.
There are so many marketing messages we’re all exposed to these days that you need something to get cut through.
Celebrities often get that cut through for you that you might not otherwise have achieved.
Celebrity Obsessed Culture Means They Work
We’re a celebrity obsessed culture these days, and celebrities get noticed.
A celebrity can earn you that precious commodity of credibility.
We’ve just undertaken a brand awareness survey for a client and found that Latitude Financial Services (formerly the not so loved GE Finance) have achieved very fast recognition within the marketplace – and all because of high profile US actor Alec Baldwin fronting the ads.
“Well, if Alec Baldwin is in the ads they must be ok” is something we hear quite a bit

Not everyone loves Alec as a choice, but it works for that brand.
Celebrities work. Probably.
Cheers
