Here in Australia the entire country (including me) has jumped on the Socceroos bandwagon as we’ve progressed in the World Cup. Just about every business is using soccer analogies to promote their stuff.
But How About you Do This
How about your business becomes the anti-soccer/football voice.
“Had enough of the World Cup? Come into my restaurant and we’ll not mention it – no banners, no TV’s, no staff talking about it. Nothing. Enjoy the peace – eat at Joe’s!”
Not only will that make you stand out in a cluttered market, but it will also get you some publicity I’d be sure.
Think different. Act different. Get noticed.

Hi Brendon,
greets from germany, just around the globe, where the world cup takes place.
Your idea is quite interesting, but not new, I’m sorry!
There are quite some retaurants and bars which have a sign above the door or in the window: No world cup here, no tv, no radio,…
b.t.w.: I’m sorry for the australian team because they played so good and Italy had a lot of luck!

Thanks Arne
Yep, a lot of ideas have already been done but that’s often good because you can see if they work.
Must be fantastic there for the World Cup. Poor Australians :o( – so near yet so far!
Cheers
